Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao - ‘I love going to the school and learning new things.’

Friends, 

As we head into the latter half of 2019, we're most pleased to share that our girls are doing incredibly well.

All 57 of them have settled into the school year, and we've received very positive feedback from their educators about their enthusiasm and commitment.

"Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" - Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter

The Mariam Society's Education Bursary Program is proudly part of a larger India-wide initiative "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao", sponsored by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and spearheaded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Minister of Human Resource Development.

The objectives of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao are to increase awareness and address the deeply entrenched issues of female foeticide (sex selective abortion), female infanticide, education and health concerns of girls, most especially in rural communities.

Through our involvement in this program, the Mariam Society and GFI hosted an event for a group of our girls, asking them to interpret through poster art - "save the daughter, educate the daughter".

Mentorship Program Update

We will be launching the Mariam Society Mentorship Program pilot this Winter to test the concept effectiveness, technology/connectivity, and logistics.

Four of our Mariam Ambassadors are involved in the pilot, and we can't wait to get started.
