As we head into Year 2 of our 3 year project to help educate girls living in poverty, your help is most urgently needed!
India has been shut down for several weeks, with another extension just announced. These shutdowns, though necessary, have made the situation for our girls and their families truly dire.
Most of the parents of our girls work as day labourers and haven't worked in weeks. Moreover, they don’t know when or if the work will ever come back to their communities.
The majority of the families are now destitute with all their income gone. Their reliance on the family support portion of the Mariam Bursaries has become the primary way they are surviving right now.
The Grameen Foundation shared with us this week that many of the mothers of our girls, when speaking with Samita, our on the ground Coordinator, literally cried with gratitude for the financial support which is how they’re feeding their families and sometimes even neighbours.
Due to this unprecedented need we ask that you please continue to support your sponsored girl as we head into Year 2 - to help her with her education, but also her family survive COVID-19.

Year 2 Launch Postponed
Due to the unfortunate situation with COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our end-of-Year 1 celebration, and Year 2 kick-off until we are able to see each other in person again. Details will be shared through our next Quarterly Newsletter.
